A SAFE & PEACEFUL CHI: THE RECAP

This summer True Star hosted three events as a partner for Safe and Peaceful chi. The Safe and Peaceful communities funds exists to create the conditions for violence prevention and reduction during the summer months, and supports activities by nonprofit organizations that build community cohesion and promote safety and peace.

Here’s a snap shot…

Thanks to Safe and Peaceful Chi, we were able to catch up with “Hoops in the Hood” which is a program of LISC Chicago/Chicago’s Neighborhood Sports. It’s a summer-long basketball program where athletes, parents and community members take back the streets of their neighborhood, by engaging in a safe and fun sport.

Now we all know that no summer is complete without a dope block party! Well WGCI 107.5 Radio couldn’t have agreed more, so they hosted a series of Peace in the Streets Summer Block Parties & Resource Fairs in several Chicago neighborhoods. The block parties showcased the importance of maintaining peaceful communities & featured 107.5 WGCI live broadcasts, food, music, games, prizes, & community resource opportunities.

“Where flowers bloom so does hope” – Lady Bird Johnson

Thanks to Safe and Peaceful Chi, we were able to experience that hope. This past summer, we caught up with the South Merrill Community Garden at “Planting & Playing.” Check it out!
